Portrait of Canan Işık

Canan Işık

Canan Işık is a Glasgow-based visual artist and animator whose practice explores emotional transformation.

Originally from Turkiye and with a background in architecture and animation, she works across drawing, video and design to investigate how memory, place and emotional metamorphosis shape personal identity.

Her films often merge analogue textures with digital techniques.

Through layering and repetition, she searches for ways to translate inner experiences into visual form, using animation as a method of self-discovery as much as expression.

Featured in festivals ArchiShorts and Sea Change Film Festival, she now focuses on storytelling to create a narrative which comes from abstract and experimental backgrounds.
