The 79th edition of Festival de Cannes takes place between the 12 May and 23 May 2026, and we are pleased to say that Glasgow Film Festival will be in attendance.
This year, Cannes has 22 feature films which are in Competition for the prestigious Palme d'Or award, and the Jury, chaired by South Korean director and screenwriter Park Chan-wook, consists of American actress Demi Moore, Irish-Ethiopian actress Ruth Negga, Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård, Chinese director Chloé Zhao, and more.
As well as a diverse Selection, including La Cinef and Cinéma de la Plage, Cannes recognised the career of New Zealand filmmaker Sir Peter Jackson at the Opening Ceremony, where the Lord of the Rings trilogy director was presented with an Honorary Palme d'Or. He will also take part in a special in-conversation event, Rendezvous at the Festival de Cannes.
