Glasgow Film Festival's commitment to showcasing hidden gems and new talent is one thing that makes me very proud to be a part of the programme team. After 4 years at the festival, I've seen so many brilliant, up and coming filmmakers presenting their work to sold out audiences, going on to do amazing things with their career, that started right here at GFF. The Audience Award is a testament to that commitment, being the only award at the festival that's only for 1st and 2nd time filmmakers. In an industry full of elitism, it's heartening to work in a team that champions filmmakers at all stages of their career!
In that same vein, GFF's commitment to cinema for all is another aspect of the festival I love, in the form of our free morning retrospectives. Whether its a swift screening before work or an early morning classic to start a day off from festival duties, it's always a highlight of my festival and such an easy way to make sure the whole of Glasgow can attend GFF!
