Owen Thomas
Lee Ott and Owen Thomas met while completing their master's degrees at the National Film and Television School - Ott in Directing Animation and Thomas in Producing.
Their creative partnership began with their award-winning graduation film Dragfox, recognised by BAFTA, the Academy and the Royal Television Society.
Premiering at Telluride, the film became a breakout success on the international festival circuit, screening at nearly 200 festivals worldwide and attracting a devoted queer following.
Their bond was forged during Dragfox, shaped by shared experiences of growing up queer in environments that didn't always understand them - Lee in rural Switzerland and Owen on Scotland's west coast.
Since graduating in 2024, they've continued to collaborate with a clear mission: to champion bold, character-led LGBTQ+ stories through animation.
Ott brings a meticulous craft sensibility from their background in model-making and animation, with credits on Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio and Netflix's The House.
Thomas brings a sharp editorial eye from his foundation in journalism and factual storytelling.
Together, they have launched Ott & Thomas to produce, write, direct original work and adaptations, exploring the fantastical and the deeply personal through animation.
Building on their debut collaboration with Sir Ian McKellen, they are now seeking like-minded talent, allies and activists to bring their worlds to life.
