Sumairaa Kazi is a short film producer based in Glasgow. Her background in the third sector, where she worked as a researcher and campaigner on social justice issues, continues to shape her storytelling approach.
In her work, Sumairaa is drawn to projects that champion compelling, emotionally resonant stories — whether rooted in social realism, exploring queerness, or incorporating elements of the fantastical.
After being selected for the Producer strand of GMAC’s talent development scheme Little Pictures, she produced her first scripted short, Party Pooper, which is now in its final stages of post-production.
Her hope is to contribute meaningfully to the Scottish short film landscape—across both fiction and non-fiction—by developing a collaborative and values-driven approach to film production. Guided by a vision for a purposeful and inclusive industry, Sumairaa is committed to platforming underrepresented voices and talent across her work.
